February is subs time for the members of the FOSJ where we all dig into our pockets to donate £5.
During the past few years the group has organised lots of events to raise money for St John's e.g. the ever popular Cream Teas in the Garden! This has meant we are able to donate at least £3,500 towards the £12,000 cost of the East Window renovation.
The fabric of the church is of course important, however so is raising awareness of it as a building that is part of the community. During the past year the FOSJ, parishioners, other local groups and businesses, joined together to improve the environment in Thorpe End where the church is located. As part of the scheme, the church gardens and planters were weeded and beautiful flowers/shrubs added. The efforts of the group were acknowledged by the Royal Horticultural Society who awarded the 'Thorpe End Bloomers' a 2019 'It's Your Neighbourhood Award'.
The FOSJ is always looking for new members, if you are interested in joining please use the contact details on the website to get in touch. Your support really is very much appreciated.
