Our gardens help the community!

Like this planter? It is one of several made by "Support and Connections", a day service for people with learning difficulties, situated on Kings Road in Melton. Not too far from our church, and so when we needed some new planters to help with our efforts to beautify the gardens for Melton in Bloom, the day centre was our first port of call. People who attend engage in a number of activities, such as gardening, cooking, life skills, sport, crafts and more. Imagine our delight when they said they could make exactly what we were looking for! And they were so pleased to be helping a local church. We also were enthusiastic about helping the people at the centre. Those who make the planters will receive the money from the sale, spo it's a small income for them as well as a useful skill and an achievement. The photo here is an example of the type of planter. Wer will post a photo of ours as soon as it is in situ. Ours will be a little different - rectangular, not square, for example - but this gives a good idea of the appearance. So if you see them outside St. John's, remember the good they have done by giving people income, dignity and skills. It is a great example of how maintaining the church building and grounds enables us to join with our local community and support the vulnerable and the needy.

If you would like to contact the centre, either to discuss a project or because you know someone who might like to attend, email: admin@supportconnections.co.uk
